Decked in an all-black pant set paired with sunglasses, a neck chain and ear cuffs, Rohit enters the studio seeming like the exact antithesis of his \u2018Sunshine Boy\u2019 persona. \"I'm so sorry I'm late,\" he says, removing the shades to reveal his puppy eyes as he apologizes in his distinct, sweet intonation. Now there\u2019s the man I visualize melting hearts with his aura of the quintessential rom-com charmer. Had I not witnessed it first-hand at the shoot, I would attribute the creation of this reputation solely to his on-screen characters\u2014whether it\u2019s Raghav in Ishq Vishk<\/em> Rebound<\/em> or Rishi in the Netflix series, Mismatched<\/em>. I remember welling up (just a little) during the parting scene between Rishi and Dimple in the latest season of the latter. This happens to be my first brush with an almost parasocial relationship with a fictional character. He\u2019s that<\/em> convincing. Now oscillating between projects\u2014from the Dharma potboiler Sunny Sanskari ki Tulsi Kumari<\/em> to the South action film Thug Life<\/em>, directed by Mani Ratnam\u2014Saraf is ambitiously charting new territory. His upcoming roles deviate from those that appeared tailor-made for him, signaling his intent to break the mould. Could this be the genesis of the making of Bollywood\u2019s next youth icon? All signs point towards yes.<\/p>\n
