At the tender age of eight, Sumeer Kaur first walked into a clothing boutique, falling in love with bright colors, breathtaking designs and gracefully draped outfits. This experience lingered with her long after, when she would play dress up with sarees and dupattas. Her love for fashion and couture continued even when she was in college, which beckoned her to start a fashion label instead of continuing college. Lashkaraa is not just a fashion label. It is a movement, a pull towards our Indian roots when it comes to dressing.
Over the years, Lashkaraa has evolved from a label into a globally recognized name in Indian ethnic fashion. At the heart of Lashkaraa’s philosophy is accessibility. Couture-inspired designs meet a modern imagination, without diluting quality, or breaking the bank. Each collection reflects a balance between tradition and modernity, ensuring that the garments feel timeless yet relevant.
Debut in India
Originally started in the United States, Lashkaraa decided to launch in India, in 2022. There, it showcased its embellished bridal coutoure, 'Garden of Serenity'. Karisma Kapoor, being the showstopper, had appeared at the Bombay Times Fashion Week, Mumbai. She wore a pink pasteled intricate lehenga with delicate embellishments, capturing the sodt-girl bridal mood perfectly.

Design and stylistic canvass
The founder proudly describes Lashkaraa as ‘sparkle’ in Punjabi. And it is evident in every design. The array of outfits across the brand heavily focusses on intricate embroidery work while giving every garment a sophisticated look and a refined feel.
There is a range, from minimal to heavily embellished, establishing that this is a brand across fashion preferences. Whether you are the bride’s family member who’s looking for a fine balance between an embellished piece and a delicate one, or a bride who wants to give off queen energy, Lashkaraa must be your go-to choice.
When it comes to embroidery, it mirrors the intent and visual look the silhouette intends to create. For instance, in its anarkalis, the embroidery is well balanced with the fall of the silhouette, heavy towards the end and light at right at its hem. Drama and heavy work is reserved for outfits which would be needed to create the visual essence. The eyes follow the intricate work, there is poetry heavily embedded in its stylistic essence.

The designs don’t shy away from colors, in fact they use them in a way that creates a stand-out effect, making them immediately eye-catching. In their mirrorwork pieces, the mirrors are proportionally divided across the garments in a way to catch every glint of light. Lashkaraa doesn’t shy away from experimentation. It tells the story of Indian craftsmanship while introducing prints and motifs into their fluid silhouettes. It gives it that modern chic feel.

Lashkaraa works with the trends of modernism and adapts its designs to it, while keeping Indian ethos intact, ensuring that its silhouettes and styles cater to the taste of a globalized audience. The label has successfully bridged cultural gaps by offering versatile designs that appeal to both traditional ceremonies and modern celebrations. Its collections are designed to suit traditional festivities and multicultural events. From wedding wear for bride and groom to party guests, its collections suit every need. This is what makes it a globally celebrated choice across styles, preferences and even geographies.
What further distinguishes Lashkaraa is its attention to wearability. Despite the richness of surface detailing, the garments are designed to move with the body rather than restrict it. Cuts are engineered to allow comfort during long celebrations, acknowledging the realities of Indian festivities that stretch from day to night. The brand also demonstrates sensitivity toward proportion—ensuring embellishments enhance rather than overpower the wearer. This conscious approach results in ensembles that feel considered and lived-in, allowing the wearer’s presence to shine through. Lashkaraa’s designs ultimately celebrate the individual as much as the craft, placing confidence, ease, and expression at the centre of its aesthetic.
Fabric choices:
Many embellishments are made using silk and silk blends. Brocades are used for wedding pieces, or pieces that are heavier or festive in nature. Shararas and Ghararas with heavy embroidery work use silk and velvet fabrics for their textures and festive appeal. Silks are also reserved for lehenga choli selections, with delicate embellishments. Organzas and georgettes are used for runway pieces.
