Bay Area Navratri 2026 events include the Atul Purohit & Falguni Pathak Live show in Santa Clara and the UPMA Dandiya Garba, both drawing thousands of dancers across the region. For garba, women typically wear lehenga cholis or embroidered kurta sets in mirror work and silk, while men opt for kurta-pyjamas or sherwanis. Comfort matters most since the dancing lasts for hours.
Navratri season turns the Bay Area into one giant garba floor. From Santa Clara to Fremont, community halls and convention centers fill up with dhol beats, swirling dupattas, and dandiya sticks clicking through the night. If you're new to the region or just haven't locked down your plans yet, here's what's happening in 2026 and how to dress for it.

What Are the Top Garba & Dandiya Events in the Bay Area for 2026?
Two events stand out for scale and energy this year.
Navratri 2026: Atul Purohit & Falguni Pathak Live | Santa Clara brings two of Gujarat's most recognized garba and dandiya performers to the stage. Falguni Pathak has been a fixture of Navratri celebrations across India and the diaspora for decades, and her live shows tend to sell out fast. Expect a packed dance floor, live singing, and a night built entirely around movement.
UPMA Dandiya Garba 2026 is another major draw, known for its community feel and organized dandiya rounds that welcome both experienced dancers and first-timers. It's a good pick if you want structured garba circles rather than just open-floor dancing.
Both events run for hours, so plan your outfit around comfort as much as style. That's the part people underestimate until they're three hours into the night.
What to Wear to Garba: A Navratri Outfit Guide
Garba outfits need to do two things at once: look festive under bright lights and hold up through nonstop spinning. Here's how to think through it by category.
What Should Women Wear to Garba Night?
A lehenga choli is the classic garba outfit for good reason. The flared skirt catches movement beautifully during the twirls that dandiya rounds are built around. Mirror work, or "abhla" embroidery, is traditional to Gujarati garba wear and adds shine without weighing the outfit down.
If a full lehenga feels like too much, an anarkali or a well-fitted kurta set works just as well. Both give you room to move while still feeling festive. A saree can work too, but only if it's pre-draped or secured tightly, since traditional draping can loosen during hours of dancing.
What Should Men Wear to Garba Night?
Kurta-pyjama sets in bright colors or bandhani prints are the standard for men at garba events. They're breathable, easy to move in, and pair well with a simple stole or dupatta for extra flair. For a dressier take, a sherwani works for the event's opening hours, though most men switch to something lighter once the dancing picks up.
Which Fabrics Actually Hold Up Through a Night of Dancing?
Silk looks rich under stage lighting but can feel heavy after a while, so it suits shorter events better. Cotton is the most practical option for all-night garba since it breathes and moves easily. Tissue fabric adds a subtle shimmer without much weight, and mukaish work, that delicate metallic thread embroidery, gives you sparkle without the bulk of heavier embellishment.
If you're building out a full festive wardrobe for the season, Aza Fashions' festive collection has options across all these fabric types, and their Ram Navami outfit guide is worth a look if your Navratri celebrations extend into the ninth day.
Styling Tips for All-Night Garba Twirling
A few small choices make a big difference once the dancing starts. Skip heavy jewelry that can catch on fabric or dandiya sticks. Choose flat sandals or juttis over heels, since you'll likely be on your feet for hours. And go easy on layered dupattas. One well-secured piece is easier to manage than several loose ones once the circle speeds up.
Ready for Navratri 2026?
Whether you're heading to the Santa Clara show or joining the UPMA dandiya circle, the right outfit should let you dance without thinking twice about it. Once Navratri wraps, Dussehra follows close behind, and Aza's Dussehra outfit guide can help you carry that festive momentum straight through Vijayadashami.
